Researchers at University of Malaya say they have developed an erectile dysfunction cure from walnut extract.

“It takes about an hour for the effects to set in and it will last for about four hours,” said Professor Dr. Kim Kah Hwi of the Faculty of Medicine Physiology.

So far, 40 volunteers have tried the Viagra alternative, called “N-Hanz”, with positive results, Kim said. To make one pill, it takes about 3.3 kilograms (about 7 pounds) of walnuts.

An 8-year-old Indonesian boy died after being attacked on Saturday by a Komodo Dragon at Komodo National Park on Komodo.

The boy was attacked while making a toilet stop in a bush, a park official said. “The dragon bit his waist, tossed him and dragged him. His right leg was badly scratched,” park spokesman Heru Rudiharto said. The boy then bled to death.

Attacks by Dragons on humans are rare, though the reptiles, which can grow to a length of 3 meters (9 feet), regularly kill such prey as pigs and small deer. Komodo Dragons are an endangered and protected species, and about 2,000 of them live in the wild, mainly on Komodo and nearby Rinca island.

You re Products in protected containers ready to reach your door step

by

Arienne PrinknashRoot of Idea

The very famous man known as the \”Father of Containerization\” has done a lot of effort to bring his idea into action. He was the man with very different ideas in concerned with the transport of goods. He wanted to remove the steps which include loading the goods from one place and unloading them at the destination. So he used many options, firstly he used to load the trucks with goods on ship so that they could reach near to the destination point, without much hassle. But the ship owners later protested this idea of his, but the man was not at all ready to accept it calmly, so he decided to become a ship owner himself so that he could accomplish his ideas. That great man was- Malcolm P. McLean

He was successful completely in 26th April 1956, in this date there were a ship carrying fifty-eight containers lest from Newark to Houston. Then many countries like Japan, Europe also adopted this very idea. The standards which were followed to transport the containers were the American standards. But later some countries faced difficulty to follow the American standards so they decided over to adopt the ISO Standards.

Cargo securing equipment

To make the goods reach securely to the owners destination many steps were taken, in that the most important and the effective step was Cargo securing equipment, in this a special care is taken so that each item reaches the destination without any damage. Bracing is used to give each item a tight fit, and also lashing lugs and rings are also provided keeping the safety of the goods in mind.

Ways to secure your goods

The Narrolash, one kind of non-metallic lashing, this is available in the market up to 11,000 lbs is very useful material in providing the security. Besides Narrolash, there is also

Narrostrap

which is very flexible non metallic strapping. The high tenacity polyester is used to woven the strapping. These both are the mostly used non metallic lashing and the strapping materials used in today s worlds.

Yet another material to be mention is Woven Polyester Strapping, the advantage of Woven Polyester Strapping is that they are mostly durable and safer. If the products have to be saved from grease and oil then the Woven Polyester Strapping is the best option to choose, because they protect the goods from oil and grease. The acid is not affected on the Woven Polyester material. They are high resistant of the acids. Similarly any kind of chemicals also do not affect it as it Woven Polyester resist the chemicals too. The temperature play a very crucial role when you want to select the material, as Woven Polyester Strapping is not a very good option if it is used above the temperature of 194 F. So take care of your goods and make them reach the destination safely in safe containers and with high security.

The idea of making the goods transferred from one place to the other without much loading and unloading on the way is invented by Malcolm P. McLean . He did a great effort to make all his idea into success.

If the security of the goods are concerned the there are many materials available in the market like

Cargo securing equipment

,

Narrolash

, Narrostrap,

Woven Polyester Strapping

and many others, so it s time to become tension free and to opt the best option to make your goods reach the destination safely.

Explosion in San Francisco injures one, cause unknown

Friday, August 19, 2005

An explosion from an underground utility chamber in downtown San Francisco severely injured a woman and shattered a window at a Ralph Lauren clothing store shortly after 10:00 a.m. Pacific time Friday. According to a caller to KCBS radio, a woman was engulfed in flames after the explosion triggered a fire in the store. The fire was quickly put out.

A bomb squad is currently investigating the explosion, and the cause has yet to be determined. One official said the explosion may have been caused by an electrical transformer. A witness described a fireball coming out of the side of the building

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. company spokesman Paul Moreno has stated that “there was no indication of a gas leak.” Moreno also described the aftermath of the blast. “The explosion did displace manhole covers — two round steel ones — and it also displaced a concrete cover as well,” Moreno said.

Some accounts have described a rift in the sidewalk caused by the explosion below.

Construction worker Tom Demartini, who was sitting in his truck outside the Ralph Lauren store, stated he saw the sidewalk rise up six or seven inches. “It sounded like a big poof, then there was a lot of smoke,” Demartini said. “One woman looked like she was badly burned.”

The burned woman was taken to the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital. Hospital spokeswoman Linda Gillespie had no immediate comment on her condition. Her name was not released.

Workers in a nearby office building described how the blast shook their buildings and that they thought it was an earthquake. According to one woman, the elevator in her building stopped.

Scores of police have evacuated buildings several blocks around the explosion. Kearny street between Sutter and Market has been closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.

New South Wales government announces ‘Bradfield’ as name for third city of Greater Sydney

Wednesday, March 17, 2021

Yesterday, the state government of New South Wales (NSW), Australia announced “Bradfield” as the name for the planned third city in Greater Sydney.

Bradfield is located at west of City of Parramatta and Sydney, in vicinity of the then currently in construction Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport. The city is to be named in honour of John Bradfield, the engineer who designed the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney rail line. The name came after a public consultation earlier last year.

In a press release on the New South Wales official website, Premier Gladys Berejiklian commented on the significance of the chosen name, “Bradfield was a renowned engineer who designed and oversaw the construction of both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney’s original railway network”. “The name Bradfield is synonymous with delivering game-changing infrastructure and it sets the right tone for the area we have referred to as the ‘Aerotropolis Core’ until now”, Berejiklian added.

According to the announcement, the planned city area is more than 1 km2 (100 hectares) positioned to the north of the Bringelly suburb. In the official announcement, Premier Gladys Berejiklian wrote the city would be a “high-tech manufacturing and research hub” and it would create 200 thousand jobs. Premier Gladys Berejiklian clarified the scope of the planned city, saying “[t]his area will be transformed into a thriving city centre, home to advanced manufacturing, research, science and education and we want Bradfield to be as iconic as the existing major city centres of Sydney and Parramatta. […] What are paddocks now will be a thriving, bustling city centre offering the best job opportunities anywhere in Australia.”

Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres commented on the prior public consultation and the large community involvement, saying “The number of suggestions the community put forward to ‘Name the Place’ was overwhelming and we are thrilled with the level of participation and interest this project attracted. […] We thank everyone for having their say and want to assure the community the remaining suggestions will be considered as names for streets, parks and other landmarks in the new city centre. […] I look forward to Bradfield being the first name that people think of when starting a new job, creating a new business, learning a new skill and investing in NSW.”

Per a report from Sydney Metro published in June 2020, the Western Sydney International project of the airport and the metro is planned to be inaugurated in 2026.

With some comments on social media having indicated concerns over the hotter climate in the area, Wikinews has retrieved the mean maximum temperatures for the three areas — Sydney, Parramatta, and Badgerys Creek location — and has found arithmetic mean of annual of monthly mean maximum temperatures for these locations to be 23.13, 23.8 and 24.04° Celsius, according to the data from 1996 to 2020 from the Bureau of Meteorology.

According to official data from local authorities, City of Sydney was founded in 1842 and has an area of 26.15 km2; while Sydney was converted from a penal colony in the year of 1788. Parramatta was also founded in 1788, and has an area of 84 km2.

Useful Facts of Interactive Web Design

by

Simon David

To rule in the online world, it is important for businesses to come with websites that can hold the attention of visitors. In other words, it is important to go for interactive web design to make the website more user-friendly and unique.

This article will help you to understand about interactive website design in detail. Different levels of programming & creating script along with features are involved to allow user interactions with the site more easily, straightforward and in a simple manner.

Programs

Various programs are used by the designers to design and develop such type of sites and such programs are based on the nature of sites the designer wishes to achieve. Numerous tools along with programs and software are used which involves programs for website layout and to create interactive menus with options and buttons for the sake of users. Such menus can be animated to demonstrate how helpful and simple the site is.

User interface

Various aspects of usability are focused by designers to create a user interface for the site. The user interface is friendly, powerful and intuitive in the process.

Concept and implementation of user friendly user interface is one of the most essential aspects of interactive website designing. The user interface or UI typically takes the form of GUI that stands for Graphical User Interface. And the interface helps users to navigate the site in a simple and easy manner. It involves different menus, buttons as well as directories and options that allow one to see different pages and available information on the pages. A number of approaches are considered by the designers but the main focus is to create a UI which is user friendly and simple to understand.

Maintaining balance

Web design Vancouver can be made interactive by keeping into account several useful approaches but the designers always consider such approaches not to be distracting or convoluted. Too many options or menus can make navigation easy but sometimes it may involve multiple steps to reach a single search and this makes layout nice but also hinders the user. Thus, in the interactive designing process it is considered to maintain a delicate balance to offer the users a great deal of power without too many options to maintain the quality usability of site.

And you should know that leading web design Vancouver firms have been serving the individuals with interactive website design to make the sites more likeable and traffic generated in respective online industries.

Red Hat to move focus away from CentOS in favour of Stream; CentOS team discuss implications with Wikinews

Monday, December 14, 2020

On Tuesday, US-based software company Red Hat announced their plans to shift their focus away from CentOS in favour of CentOS Stream.

In the blog post Chris Wright, the Chief Technological Officer of Red Hat said Red Hat had informed the CentOS governing board that Red Hat was “shifting our investment fully from CentOS Linux to CentOS Stream”. At least five of the nine CentOS Governing Board listed on the project are Red Hat employees.

Started in 2004, CentOS has been a free-of-cost free/libre open source software which provided binary-code compatibility with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) — Red Hat’s GNU General Public Licensed paid operating system. CentOS was absorbed into Red Hat in 2014, with Red Hat gaining the trademark rights of “CentOS”.

Red Hat also sponsors the Fedora operating system. Red Hat even gives the software engineering interns laptops with Fedora on it. Till now, software development took place on Fedora, which was later adopted in RHEL, which the Red Hat maintained and provided support for, for those customers who had RHEL subscription. CentOS would then follow RHEL to provide the same features free of cost, but without the support.

Stream was announced in September 2019, just two months after Red Hat was acquired by IBM. CentOS Stream’s development cycle had new features added to it before the features became a part of RHEL. Stream receives more frequent updates, however, it does not follow RHEL’s release cycle.

With CentOS Stream, developments from the community and the Red Hat emplyees would take place beforehand on both Fedora, and Stream as a rolling release, before those features are absorbed into RHEL. CentOS followed the release cycle of RHEL and therefore it was a stable distribution. Features available in CentOS were tried and tested by Fedora, and then RHEL maintainers. Stream, on the other hand, has features added to it before those features become a part of RHEL. That implies Stream would be ahead of RHEL’s development, containing new features which are not yet tried and tested by RHEL developers, and not be binary code-compatible with RHEL.

Writing “The future of CentOS Linux is CentOS Stream”, Wright further wrote in the announcement, CentOS Stream “provides a platform for rapid innovation at the community level but with a stable enough base to understand production dynamics.” Wright also said, “CentOS Stream isn’t a replacement for CentOS Linux; rather, it’s a natural, inevitable next step intended to fulfill the project’s goal of furthering enterprise Linux innovation.”

Since the announcement was made, many people expressed their anger on Internet Relay Chat (IRC), Reddit and CentOS project’s mailing list. CentOS 8’s End of Life (EOL) has been moved up from May 2029 to December 31, 2021, while CentOS 7 is expected to receive maintenance updates through June 2024, outliving CentOS 8.

Gregory Kurtzer, who had started the CentOS project, announced a new operating system, Rocky Linux. Rocky Linux describes itself as “a community enterprise Operating System designed to be 100% bug-for-bug compatible with Enterprise Linux”. The project said “Rocky Linux aims to function as a downstream build as CentOS had done previously, building releases after they have been added to the upstream vendor, not before.” The project maintainers have not decided a date for when the operating system will be released.

Kurtzer explained the reason to call the OS as Rocky Linux: “Thinking back to early CentOS days… My cofounder was Rocky McGaugh. He is no longer with us, so as a H/T [hat tip] to him, who never got to see the success that CentOS came to be, I introduce to you…Rocky Linux”.

Wikinews reached out to the members of the CentOS project, Pablo Greco and Rich Bowen, to discuss this move, its implications as well as the future of CentOS. Greco is a maintainer of armhfp (32-bit processors) and is a part of the CentOS’ quality assurance team. Bowen — who unlike Greco, works for Red Hat — is the community manager of the CentOS project.

China and Russia sign trade deals worth US$3.5 billion

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

China and Russia has signed billions of dollars worth of deals during Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s visit to Beijing on Tuesday. The trip was aimed at bolstering business, political and military ties.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said that Putin came to Beijing to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He said that the Russian leader would also meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao. The two sides are to sign a joint statement of regular high level meetings between the two countries.

Earlier in the day, Russian officials told reporters Russian and Chinese companies signed US$3.5 billion worth of deals. They include a $500 million loan from the Agricultural Bank of China to Russia’s second biggest lender, VTB.

Gazprom, the Russian gas company, also had signed a deal to sell China 70 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year. Projects to build Gazprom pipelines to China have been delayed because of disagreements over gas pricing.

“It’s the first time, perhaps, that such large commercial deals are being sealed in such volume between Russian and Chinese enterprises,” said Alexander Zhukov, the Russian deputy prime minister. “Naturally, the Chinese are interested in getting [ownership] stakes.”

Zhukov said that there were another forty or so projects, including two banking deals worth $500 million apiece, that were anticipated to be signed during Putin’s visit.

Russia and China share more than 4,000 kilometers of border. Official Chinese media say annual trade between the two countries has increased from several billion dollars in the early 1990’s to nearly $57 billion in 2008. China is particularly keen to secure supplies of oil and natural gas to fuel its rapidly expanding industries.

Open source game developer Perttu Ahola talks about Minetest with Wikinews

Tuesday, June 30, 2020

Recently, Finnish open-source video game developer Perttu Ahola discussed Minetest, his “longest ever project”, with Wikinews.

Started in October 2010, Minetest was an attempt by Ahola to create a sandbox game similar to Minecraft. Minecraft is a multi-platform commercial game, which was in alpha version when Ahola challenged himself to create something similar to it from scratch, he told Wikinews.

Minetest is an open-source game, which is free for anyone to download and play. It is written in the C++ programming language, and the source code is available on code-hosting site GitHub. According to Ahola, Minetest attempts to run on older hardware, with limited graphics, but to be accessible to more people: those who have outdated technology, and making it available for no cost. Minecraft, on the other hand, is a paid game, currently costing USD 26.95 for its computer version. Minecraft is currently owned by Microsoft, and performs poorly on older hardware.

A correspondent from French Wikinews contacted Perttu Ahola via Internet Relay Chat a few weeks ago, discussing Minecraft. This interview is built on top of the previous interview, as we take a deeper dive into knowing more about this free game which is about to turn ten years old in a few months.

The Forex Mini Account

Submitted by: Arkaitz Arteaga

“For those who are plagued by the misperception that the Forex Market requires a large capital to start with there are such things as Mini Forex Accounts that disprove this. These accounts have smaller units in trading and require lower capital to start with.”

It is often a misperception that Forex trading requires a large investment. This is one of the reasons that a lot of traders do not enter the Forex market, and stay in other markets like trading stocks. However this is not the case. Forex traders are able to trade by opening a mini account.

Advantages of a Forex Mini-Account

Low Capital Required

Forex Mini Accounts require only $300 to start. This is very fair as most traders trade figures much lager than this. There are very few investments people can get into with just $300. Prospects in Forex are also very good and most people can turn profits within short time frames.

High Leverage

In the stock market if you own $1000 dollars worth of share then you generally can get around $500 to $750 for leverage. These are optimistic figures. In the Forex market due to the liquidity of currency a trader can get up to 100:1 leverage. If you pay the small margin of deposit ($50 per lot) your mini account can serve as a very lucrative trading vehicle.

Pips

One pip equals to $1. Owners of Forex mini accounts can trade in Pips as opposed to dollars. This is in an effort to scale down the risk. This lower denomination allows traders with lower capital more flexibility in exploring many more opportunities in trading Forex. This also allows low-capital traders to diversify their portfolio more to reduce the risk of loss as it will be more spread out. For example a 30 pip floating loss equates to around $30. So if the trader has a 30 pip move against the other direction in their $100,000 mini account it translates to a $30 floating loss.

Smaller Trading Size

Standard Forex accounts contract sizes are 100,000 units. Whereas, a mini Forex account allows traders to trade in 10,000 units. The smaller trade size allows traders to trade live but with less risk. This is also ideal for those with smaller capital or those who are risk-averse. It is also ideal for beginners who are not yet confident in their abilities and want to test the market with smaller trades. As traders advance and become more confident they can increase they re lot size to 20,000 units.

Another hidden benefit of trading with a Forex Mini Account is for a trader to become familiar with the procedures and the environment of the Forex trading system. The software used for the mini account is similar to the regular account and has all the same functions.

Forex mini accounts are ideal for traders who are trading less then $10,000 as it allows them more trading opportunities. If they were to open a regular account it is very likely that they re entire capital can get stuck into one trade. It is a less risky alternative ideal for those new to the Forex market.
